                    ~Wood Sorrel~

Shade loving west coast native.  It is also very drought tolerant by going into summer dormancy.

Bloom: Small white flowers in spring.

Habit: 4-8" tall x 18-24" in 1-2 years with reasonable care and summer watering.

Site:  Best in shade to very part sun in moist loamy soil for year round appearance.  In locations that are too sunny it will appear in spring and then disappear with hot sun until the following spring.

Spreading rate: Medium.

Uses:  Hardy, easy to care for,  west coast native.  Fits well with woodland gardens.  Can be used as a no maintenance border or edge to shady pathways.  Use as a border or edging to shady ponds or pools.

Fertilizing:  Feed in early spring and again lightly in early fall.  Use a balanced fertilizer, preferably one containing a slow release nitrogen source.    Always follow the manufacturer's label recommendations when making any applications of fertilizer.   Be sure to rinse the fertilizer off the foliage.

Watering:  Regular summer water should be provided the first couple of years to ensure good plant establishment and to promote maximum growth.  While Wood Sorrel will take dry conditions once established, it flourishes in moist soil situations, natural or created with irrigation.  It will survive no water situations once established again by disappearing in late spring and reappearing the following spring.

Pruning:  Prune as you wish to control height and shape.

Foot traffic:  Not recommended.

Hardiness:  -30° to -20° F.
