             ~Creeping Raspberry~

Fast spreading, prostrate evergreen shrub with attractive, scallop-edged, wrinkled green leaves.  Leaf edges turn reddish in winter.  Attractive as a ground cover and non traffic lawn substitute.  Good for holding banks.  This is the best substitute for English Ivy because of it's slope holding ability.  Forms a salmon colored berry after flowering.

Bloom: White flowers in summer, followed by edible, salmon orange berries.

Habit: 4-6" tall by 24"wide.  Spreads by above-ground runners that root down.

Exposure: Full sun to part shade.

Site:  Plant in somewhat rich, well drained soil.

Spreading rate:  Medium to fast.

Fertilizing: Feed in early spring and again lightly in early fall.  Use a balanced fertilizer, preferably one containing a slow release nitrogen source.  Always follow the manufacturer's label recommendations when making any applications of fertilizer.  Be sure to rinse the fertilizer off the foliage.

Watering:  Regular summer water should be provided the first couple of years to ensure good plant establishment and to promote maximum growth.  Somewhat drought tolerant.

Pruning:  Prune as you wish to control height and shape.

Foot traffic:  Not recommended.

Hardiness:  0° to 10° F.
