           ~Sedum 'Dragon's Blood'~

Dark burgundy to green, succulent evergreen leaves on short, trailing stems.  There is several strains of "Dragon's Blood" on the market, some with green leaves.  We have selected this strain because of it's darker burgundy foliage adds more year round color to the landscape.  Foliage gets darkest in sun.

Bloom: Starry deep red flowers in mid to late summer.

Habit: 4" tall and 8-12" wide.  An interesting, clump forming ground cover or rock garden plant.

Exposure: Full sun to light shade.

Site:  Best in sharply drained soil in full sun.   Drought tolerant once established.

Spreading rate:  Medium.  Spreads by above-ground runners.

Fertilizing:  Feed in early spring and again lightly in early fall.  Use a balanced fertilizer, preferably one containing a slow release nitrogen source.  Always follow the manufacturer's label recommendations when making any applications of fertilizer.  Be sure to rinse the fertilizer off the foliage.

Watering:  Regular summer water should be provided the first couple of years to ensure good plant establishment and to promote maximum growth.  While 'Dragon's Blood' will take dry conditions once established, it appreciates a couple of deep waterings during the driest month's of late summer.

Pruning:  Prune as you wish to control height and shape.

Foot traffic:  No

Hardiness:  0° to 10° F.
